This project was an open-ended challenge, the object to encourage giveaway entrants to opt into exclusive offers provided by a giveaway’s sponsors. My solution was to gamify the process, turning it into a quiz-style brand discovery portal where users would be matched with offers based on selected interests.
Step 1
When users navigate to a giveaway page, they are given the option to pick which brands sponsor their giveaway in the form of a quiz game. In the first step, the user can select shopping categories that they are interested in.
Step 2
After the user selects the categories they are interested in, the system searches for active sponsor brands within those categories. Six brands are then presented to the user.
Step 3
The user can click on the logos to learn more about the brands.
Step 4
If the user does not like the selection they are presented with, they have the option to refresh their brand selections. The system then matches them with six different brands, still based on their selected interests. They can refresh as many times as they like until they are satisfied.
Step 5
When they are satisfied with their selections, they can continue on to enter the giveaway. Upon entering the giveaway, the user will be opted-in to the brands' email marketing and will receive free gifts or promo codes from the brands.
In user tests, consumers responded very favorably to this approach, and generally felt more positive about the giveaway and the brand offers than in previous iterations.
